Timing Chain
I have a 1994 Camaro Z28 A4 with 98K miles...........i took it to the track and ran the car 7 times on a friday and it didnt brake down at all. then i drove it all day saturday with no problems.......sunday i drove 8 hours from the bay area to San diego....the car drove fine the whole way home.......then when i got home i got out while the car was running and heard a like grinding noise from the front of the motor that would come and go.....monday morning while driving to work i was cruising like 45mph and the car sounded like it backfired and then it did it one more time before the car shut itself down.......i checked the everything so i started the car and babied it back home....i checked it later that night and it has a real rough idle and if you rev in up it sounds like this loud backfire.....now the car wont start it just kicks over and thats it.....could it be my timing chain? has anyone ever stretched a timing chain out and got the same problems i have or could it be something else....please help. here is the video when the car was acting up

Sounds to me that the OPTI took a ****. The noise You're hearing is probably the the rotor hitting the cap. Mine did the exact same thing. Take the OPTI out and turn the rotor by hand, it should turn freely and not make any noise, also shake the OPTI and make sure there isn't any loose **** rattling around. I can almost guarantee that is Your problem. Keep us updated.
