Default 427-454 World (MERLIN) motor

I was looking in a Jegs catalog, and people are always telling me i need to put a bigger motor in there. Now i was wondering how hard it would be to put a 454 BB in to my 1997 Chevrolet Camaro. People are always kidding with me about putting a 572 in it..? And i was wondering, if anything to this is possible, what type of tranny would bolt up (or be recommended.) What rear end, and also how hard it would be to switch over to a carburation setup. Thank you everyone, your input is needed and appreciated..

IMO if your going with a BB you might as well get another ride. Putting a BB in an fbody is cool, but you better have really deep pockets.

As for doing it, you could do a TH350 or a turbo 400 tranny. For 572ci i would do at least a 2000 CFM carb.

Your not going to be able to use the stock PCM for a carbd setup. In fact you dont even use a PCM for carbs.

Do a search on my screen name and pull up my post. You'll find plenty of post concerning my conversion. One thing I will go a head and say is its not worth it if your current engine is working fine. If you can get more out of your current engine without a major rebuild I wouldn't do it. But if your looking at rebuilding the SBC or buying a BBC, then I'd just buy the BBC.
