Default Spring install tips needed

Installing new Comp 918's in my 95 LT1. Heads are still on the car. First compressor I tried bent when the springs were about half way down.. Even after I fixed that, it didn't have enough travel to fully compress the springs. second one keeps sliding off the retainers. Any Tips? Thanks!

you shouldn't have to fully compress them, just enough to get the retainers out.

Then again I changed the springs when I had the heads off the car.

How did it bend? Maybe a better compressor. You only need to compress enough to get the old valve locks out and the new ones in.

For my 918's I used the Craftsman with a "T" handle [about $20.] just pinch the top legs in a vise so that they fit on to the smaller 918 retainers.
