Unhappy Could the Opti be bad already?

Hey guys. When I came home today from work I popped the hood just to check on things while it was still running. I started to notice an inconsistant growning noise. So I got me a wooden stick to listen where the noise is comming from. When put the stick on the Opti I could hear the noise loud and clear. Does this mean I have to replace my opti. It only has 1600 miles on it.

Uhh err. The Optispark is an electronic device (ie. a thin metal disc with slits spinning through an optical sensor.) it doesn't really get loud. The cap and rotor however in front or the sensor, may cause it. But, I would possibly consider the timing chain if its a noise coming from that area..

well the first thing to get out in the open, is who did your 383? Was the cam installed by whoever built the engine, and if so was the doll pin measurement checked.

I built my own motor and I checked that dowl pin during assembly, I forget what the measurement was but I remember the pin was identical to the stock cam.

I just got home from my night job and listened for the noise again and it seems to have stopped. Is it still possible the bear for the opti is going bad already?

it's possible, but if you're not having any weird misfires, or ignition problems, I wouldnt worry about it.

Yea the car still runs just fine. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it.
Thanks
