Replace water pump and timing set w/Cam? We're in the process of a cam swap on a 1993 Z28 with 55,000 miles and was wondering if a replacment water pump and new timing gear set would be a good move while we are in there. Any thoughts?

I dont think most water pumps have to be changed for a while after.... more like 105k but the timing chain shouldnt need replacing this soon...mine had about 112k and had a little slack in it not too bad though

If you do end up replacing the WP and timing set go with a Electric WP the meizer 1 is just as much as a new OE wp and you can delete the wp drive and run a double roller timing set which will still be about $100 less then a LT1 timing set

if you want, convert it to an Elec pump and install a true double rolloer chain. I got a CSR pump and a SA gear DR chain for what you'll send on the JUNK LT4 chain or new GM performance chain. SA gear builds most of the chains for Cloyles and Comp and they are sold under the brand names. You can pick one up from CNC-motorsports.com for 45 dollars. Pump runs 150 for summit. Lt4 timing chain =245.00
