Default lt1 connecting rods and pistons- not the same?

i read that lt1 pistons arent the same as the standard sbc 350 pistons. is this true? if so, why cant i find "lt1" pistons? also, how do our stock connecting rods hold up? would it be wise to replace them at the same time? i also read that they were some sort of high performance rods

The LT1 stuff is interchangable with other gen 1s even where the OEM parts are not identical. Think the stock LT1 pistons are a little lighter than some others but when shopping aftermarket look at plain old 350 pistons. Frankly though I think unless there is damage rebuilding it is asking for trouble

Stock rotating assembly as a whole is pretty good, fresh bearings and it will take a lot of power for a long time.

The powdered metal rods the 95+ LT1s use are quite strong for an OEM piece but I believe the truck motors swapped to them about the same time so they are not special just reflect improving technology through the years. They are stronger than what came before them.
