doing it yourself about absolutely nothing unless you have the ability to dissmantle the entire TB, port the entire thing and have new TB blades machined for it.
Now if you were to buy an aftermarket one, gains are there to be had, but the dollar per HP ratio isn't very good. It's recommended that a bigger TB not be one of your first mods..

On my car, I first put on a K&N Filtercharger. Did not notice any difference. Then I put on a catback. Did not notice any difference (except the annoyingly loud exhaust noise). Then I put on a ported stock TB. It really woke it up. My theory: you have to open it up front to back in order to really feel the difference. Just my personal experience and opinion.
