Default Opti Issues

Alright so after I pulled the car out of the garage for the winter I started putting some miles on it but then after sitting at a stop light one day the car died and wouldn't fire. After several minutes of cranking the car fire, however sounded horrible. It was throwing codes as well. I got the car moving and a few seconds later the car ran like a champ. About 2 weeks later this happened again. This time it died then about 10 min. later died again. So I got the car towed home. After the car got off the tow truck it fired fine with SES light on. I checked the SES light and they are both opti codes, however the opti has about 10k on it. I went and fired it today and ran fine with no codes. Is it possible anything else can be wrong beside replacing the opti?

CHeck fuel pressure, to be sure, but sounds like moisture is getting in the opti.

first thing is first, pull the harness out and check the pins for corrosion

what codes is it giving you?

if its a high resistance timing reference it might be the harness

ah dangit, I dont remember the OBD1 codes let me look them up
heres where I got this from
http://www.troublecodes.net/GM/92-93_57P.shtml

16 A low resolution pulse was not detected by ECM within 720 high resolution timing pulses.

36 ECM detected less than 60 high resolution timing pulses between each low resolution pulse for 5 consecutive cycles.

yea sounds like a high resistance against the signal, check the harness first if it checks out then move on from there, since your car doesnt have the crank sensor that means if its not the harness its the opti, sorry bud, hopefully its something simple
