does anyone run a golen short block my lt1 finally died and im thinking about going with their 383 comp.

They build DECENT motors, have a good reputation. Don't let anyone tell you they are much more than decent though because that is all they are. I do not mean that as a negative like I said they have a good reputation. It is just not the "great" engine many will claim them to be.

What's the drawback? Not as meticulous on clearances, etc?

i had issues with the rings on mine after like 1k miles after a dyno tune and it blew smoke the whole time. i have now rebuilt it at a local machine shop..and the bottom half is fine. decent customer service, and decent motor. VRE and some other companies may do a little better job, i dunno.

i have a golen engine and they are very good. i havent had one single issue with it and started spraying the **** out of it as soon as i had her broke in.
