Default newbie with a LT1

Not new to small blocks, but this is the first lt1 i have owned. Im not sure on the year, but its bolted to a 4l60e i think. it was pulled out of a camaro to the best of my knowledge.

Anyways, i plan on sticking it in my '57 chevy pickup and bolt it up to a 700r4. I was just wondering what i could do to it to get a few more hp. Im willing to swap heads, cams, throttle bodies and anything else reasonable. Im not dead set on a hp goal, so just point me in a direction please!

And i tried searching and lookin in the stickies but the information is so overwhelming that i just cant wrap my head around it all at once. Thanks!

Heads: ported stockers by Advanced Induction, Lloyd Elliot, Port Pros. Aftermarket castings from Trickflow, Edelbrock, AFR. Comp Cams has a few LT1 grinds out there, just look in Summit. Custom grind is a subjective term. Some of the sponsors have some grinds that have been used. Stock throttle body is good for 400+ HP. Get a good stall for the auto, Edge, Yank, Vig. But don't buy a stall still you pick your cam.

i would suggest since its going to be in a heavy truck, which would love a shitload of torque, do a stroker package on it. 383 with Lloyed Elliot or Advanced Induction heads and custom cam would be perfect for you.

A good dynotune or a good mail order tune will get you by. 450 - 500 rwhp is very doable with a power adder. A heads, cam, full bolt on 383 stroker with a 75 shot of nitrous will put you there for sure. With out a power adder it is much more difficult especially if you want it streetable.
