EGR cleaning?
I just had a question about how easy it is to get the thing off to even start to clean it. I've also heard it's more cost effective to just replace it.
If so what should be done about it.
Honestly I don't know if it's clogged or not. I'm not having any kind of problems with MPG (17-18.5avg), it's just what I was told one of the codes I have might be caused by.
Thanks.

You said you had bad performance. MPG and performance pretty much go hand in hand. The EGR isn't in use during WOT. Could be the EGR solenoid, but I dunno. It's on the BACK of the intake, wedged between the firewall and the intake.

I never had any luck cleaning them, tried many times and kept getting the code.
just replace it and be done with it.
Or do like I did and totally delete it. This will require block off plates and custom tune.

EGR Valves are too expensive new for how much I care about them. Clean it up and check your EGR solenoid by checking it's vacuum and voltage. It's intimidating since you can't see it, but I used my ratcheting wrenches and got it no problem.
Just be careful with the vacuum lines going from the valve and solenoid. They're plastic and have turned brittle over the years. I snapped one line because of how brittle they are.
