anyone ever have problems installing a BMR k-member? last night the engine was going in. The engine mounts will not line up. get one side in the other is not even close. it is almost like the k-member is bent.

Yes poly mounts. The K-Member has the right side. Left side is a poly replacment for stock. The problem is the mount itself looks tweeked. Put the left side bolt in and the right side bolt will go in about half inch and stops. When you look thru the hole its more then half the bolt hole off.

I had a similar problem with mine but we managed to loosen everything up and then got all all the bolts started. Something I have done before is fasten the transmission with a chain and use a comealong to pull the motor into place but I don't recommend that!

I experienced the same thing with my BMR k-member. I loosend everything and forced it into place I mean realy force it. Turned out to be the biggest mistake I made, directly after that I took the car to the strip and lost the motor (low milage 4-main forged 396) when the rpm reached 6.5 K. Installed the original motor back (low milage < 10 K) in and tried it again, again same thing happend spun the 3 and 4 main bearings.
It seams that by forcing the motor to fit there would be a slight distortion in the block which affects bearing clearances.
When I rebuilt the 396 again I made sure the k-member went on easy. Moked it up to a block and had to relocate the passenger side poly mount.

Wow. I wouldn't have thought that. How did you "force" it into place?
