Opti Cap/Rotor replacement
I may noy have bought my Trans Am had i known that just trying to do simple maintenance was going to be major surgery. WTF was GM thinking?
So now that i have my new cap and rotor, i REALLY have to remove the waterpump just to get it off? Is there a guide on this site or the net someone can reference? Tried searching myself, but all i found was 'zomfg, it's ridiculous' which it is. God %^#$(*&.

welcome to the lt1 maintenence schedule. haha, no but really... yes you do have to remove the water pump and also the harmonic balancer. people will argue but its not as bad as it seems once you get in there, it is just hard to get the energy to do it. just make sure you have the opti on right before you bolt it all back together... save yourself from doing it twice! (btw make sure when its on, try to rotate it a slight bit to see if you feel the back of the opti and the block scraping. its aluminum to aluminum so you can feel it) just a hint to ya

What do you mean what was GM thinking. The first place I would think to put a distributor would be under the water pump weep hole. DUA Yep, off comes the belt, water pump, balancer, and some years off your life.
As for advice, just try a "search" here on LS1 tech. Thats what I did. And just so you know, Ive owned a 94 "camaro" for two years and the best place to get advice is here, so your on the right track already.
