Default How to install Tach

I tried a search but not very good resalts, I just bought a 5 in. Autometer phantom 2 Monster tach. Not sure how to hook it up... can it be hooked up to the ECM or do i have to go to the coil? What wires do i need to splice in to? The car is a 1995... THANKS

You would be better off going to the coil, the reading from the ECM isn't the most accurate. You'll see what I mean once its in, the stock tach reads high. And its not a constant that its off, it varies through the RPM range. I see a 100-300rpm difference between the two. I ran my power wire to the fuse box, also power for the light, I used a LED so I didn't mind my light being on all day. I grounded somewhere on the firewall by the pedals. Green wire to the negative side of the coil.
