resurfaced Heads.. do i need after a blow head gasket
So its seems that i will get the z28 but i really dont know if it will need the heads to be resurfaced because it has a blown head gasket, that car has low miles it has 99k on it and its a 97, my friend told me that you allways need the heads reserfaced when you replace the head gaskets and that it cost close to 500$ to do that, i still think thats Bull but i just want to make sure im right.

it does NOT cost 500 bucks to mill the heads. it is a good things to do it just for insurance that you have a nice flat surface. local machine shops here charge 40-50 bucks i believe to have a set of heads milled.

If the gasket blew the head prob has warped a lil, You COULD use a straight edge and a feeler guage to check for irregularties BUT I wouldnt, take it to a good machine shop for a check and clean up. The head often SHOULD NOT need decking unless it got warped bad.
I personally would never put a Aluminum head back on with out at least having it checked.

i paid 38 bucks to get both of mine milled a few thousandths, just enough to make a good surface, but yeah LT1 heads have a tendency to flex if they are not bolted to the block and sit for a little while, just have a machine shop check em out.
