Default LTx Shootout cylinder head question

I was wondering if you guys could ammend the rules a tiny bit. A friend of mine has a set of 23 degree AFR Eliminator SBC heads on his LT1. He got a smokin deal on these last spring, way before AFR launched their LT1 versions, and he couldn't pass them up. Basically, he is now stuck running the Outlaw class now. His heads don't offer any advantage over the LT1 Eliminator heads, they are the same thing. I can totally understand the rules banning 18/15 degree, and SB2.2 stuff from the regular classes and moving them to the Outlaw class, but his heads don't offer up any unfair advantages. I'm sure you meant this rule to keep the costs down, but actually it's sometimes cheaper to go with sbc stuff.

For example:
I can get a set of AFR 227cc SBC Race heads for around $1550.00, conversion price is around 300.00, then the victor efi manifold BOLT'S RIGHT UP, just have to cut the water neck off.

Or, I can order the AFR 227cc LT1 Race heads for around $2100.00, then the victor efi manifold requires extensive mods to match up the bolt pattern, nevermind the fact that the ports need to be lined up better.

It ends up costing more money to go with the LT1 stuff (250-300ish).

Hey I'm in the same boat. I got a set of converted heads cheap. So I bought them but now I'm in the outlaw class. He can still run the bracket class, if I'm not mistaken.

True dat, but I don't think he wants to drive 900 miles, just to bracket race his car,if ya know what I mean. Heads up is where it's at. I'd rather see them not have the brackets altogether and run some 10.90/11.90/12.90/13.90 heads up classes instead.

I personally would not have a problem with it.

While were at it. the street class should allow aftermarket pcm's

It's one thing to step up to things like a bigger shot of juice, a bigger cam, higher stall, etc... It's a whole other ball-game to step-up to the UNLIMITED OUTLAW class, where you know cars will be running 8's and possibly 7's. Do you know how much money it takes to run a 7.99? How much hp? What kind of chassis certification you need? Licensing you need? Safety equipment you need? It's way out of reach for a built street/strip car on a working mans budget.
