Default Valve Spring Compressor

Hey guys what kind of valve spring compressors do yall use. Ive never done this before and im not sure which ones are good.

A pic or part number or a part number of a similar one would be nice.

I will be doing this with the heads still on the motor in the car.

Thanks. I saw the ones with a handle and i couldnt figure out how those would work. I guess im goin with the crane one.

I had really good luck with "Tim's Tool" on this site. Search for it and do some research. You will not regret buying it.

I'm with sinister on this one. I bought the cheap lever type tool from autozone and with the heads on the car I wasnt able to reach several of the springs. I actually ended up giving up on the install until this summer...and after doing some research "tim's tool" seems to be the best bet.

The crane tool posted above would obviously work great...but its pretty expensive compared to "tim's tool"...just do a search for it and you won't regret buying it. By the way, if you want to resell it after using it...PM me and let me know.

I just used the crane one last weekend on my buddies lt1, BUY IT...I would spend the money for that in a heartbeat if I ever had to do the springs while motor in the car again. the first time I had the tool that you spin by hand and only do one spring at a time, pita...spend the money on the crane one, it works awsome.

That valve spring compressor there I cant figure out how to get it to get both springs in the crane cam kit it wont compress the inner spring......

I wouldnt use that one, I did when I did my first cam. it beat the **** outta my hands and took forever.

The crane valve spring tool works really well, its a little pricey but worth every penny. Its does two spring at once.

Autozone leverage type stamped steel valve compressor, cut it down to about 5" long, it will fit under the cowl and you can use an old rocker nut and ratchet to compress. Works great with the engine in the car.

The cheap lever ones have a large center hole and can be a bear to work with on small retainers like beehives. Certainly are cheap simple and effective. I like the KD one for single springs, have never dealt with doubles.
