Default best option?

ok if i had 2500$ and i need an lt1 engine for my 95 caprice what is my best option? i think i can do a lot of work myself but im a little scared but have no other options. i helped take out and put in my engine before. and i just put in my tranny by myself. ok now if you give options could you please include part numbers.

reputable junk yard or another enthusiast who upgraded from the stock engine.

whats the highest amount of miles that a used engine should or could be cammed at. i would like to put a cam in whatever engine i get

you can put a cam in with any milage,but i wouldnt do it with more then 120k on a daily driver

Depends on the care taken of the engine, we cammed a friend's 150K mile 9C1 and it has been the better part of two years since, runs within .1 of a Golen stroker same track same day, I would say that means it works well.

Budget at least $1000 for a cam swap.
