Default LS1 Caliper Brackets

I have been reading the other threads here about swaping to the ls1 calipers and im wondering do you use the brackets off the donor car or do you need special brackets if so where can i find them . I seen them on ebay a while back but now cant find them thanks for your help !!!

Well the ls1 calipers NEED ls1 brake caliper brackets. I think you may be confusing the brake caliper brackets with the spindles. You will need the LS1 spindles. The calipers come with the brackets otherwise they wont work, they are VERY different then our stock lt1 brakes.

The spindle is the large arm that holds the wheel bearings and has 2 ball joints connected to it.

I see the reason i asked is cause i seen these brackets on ebay that said they were for converting to the ls1 calipers

The brackets are part of the caliper. The bracket mounts to the spindle then the caliper actually slides back and forth in and out of that bracket. So they are part of the conversion. I would look for the calipers and brackets being sold together. This way you know your calipers will fit those brackets.

No, there are kits that come with conversion brackets to bolt LS1 calipers to LT1 spindles.

Yeah I personally think those conversion brackets are a total waste of money. Your going to spend over 200 on those 2 brackets, when you can spend under 200 on the whole kit + spindles. I have never seen a kit go for over 200.
