Default Odd issues after installing CAI

Aside from the issue that the summit cai being a total pita to install, It looked pretty decent, and clears things well with the elbow I put on it.
But.. this is where things got funny. My 93 went from being a half second starting car, to taking well over 30 seconds to start. The first time I started it, I figured it may have been something to do with the car having to deal with the new airflow, and having the pcm reset at the same time. But it still is a hard started now after well over a week. Driving the car though, I definately noticed an improvement in performance. However, it seems as though after I beat on the car for a while, I will develope a huge missfire, with backfireing. The car is pretty predictable when the missfire will develope. The car will be running awesome with full throttle runs all over the place, and pulling very hard. Then, after a little while driving, I'll be in the 3-5k range under full throttle, and suddenly, the car will hit what feels like the rev limit, but, way lower than it should. After this, the car will run like ****. The next day, it will be fine again, aside from the hard start condition.

Now, my diagnosis beguins. what I should do first I know is reinstall the old air intake, But replacing the summit kit is a pita, like stated. Im not getting any sensor related codes. The only ones Ive got, are related to my air pump not working, and a low coolant temp code that I had before the install.

Is it possible for things like the IAC, or Map sensor to go bad without setting a code?
Sorry for all the reading material, But I like to explain everything.

It only has the hard start condition when cold. After its warmed up, it will fire right up like it usually does.

I'd guess you made a booboo in installing the CAI. Not to question your competency, but it just seems that's the only logical explanation. Make sure every connection is tight and all clamps are tight, could be a vacuum leak. Also make sure you plugged everything you disconnected back in (which shouldn't be much, with it being a 93). Other than that, check fuel pressure and check for adequate fire when it's cold.

Thats what I thought at first, so I rechecked all tubing, and unconnected all sensors, and sprayed with a parts cleaner, and reinstalled everything to no avail.
Im now wondering if its just a coincindence, and maybe my opti of aprox 10k miles is starting to fail.

After reading a few other posts, I wonder if my ICM suffers from heat stroke?
It would make sense in a way. Im sure I knocked it a few times when installing the cai

ok, well I resolved the hard start issue. My coolent temp sensor wasnt within proper specs.
But, the car still developes a missfire.
I left out that when the missfire occures, the car will idle about 1800-2k, and the gage will be all over the place, sometimes freezing for a moment.
Im hoping to at least rule out my opti

Should have had yours tested before you went and ordered a new one, Autozone can do it for free.

Usually though, they act up when they're hot... not cold.
