Question gen 1 heads on a lt1

can this be done my buddy has a set of afr 227 gen 1 can these be made to work on the lt1 ?

Anything can be "made to work". But the effort involved may not be worth it.
I am pretty sure that you would have to re work the entire cooling system to convert it to standard flow, insted of reverse flow. Use a standard SBC intake, or convert the lt1 intake for cooling passages.


If you can get a smokin deal on them, sell them for a profit and get a set of LT1 specific heads.

The only "LT1" I know of sucessfully using the AFR 227 in the lt1 specific variety is 434ci fed boost and revs to 7200rpms. Does any of that sound like what you are doing??? When that guy started choosing parts for a friend's milder blower build they choose AI 185s because it was the right choice for a driver.

Have to be converted to reverse-flow for starters.

Like mentioned.. anything can be made to work, depends on how fat your wallet is.

I think you can get a better bang for your buck with another combo.
