Default Spec 1 clutch

Is this a good replacement clutch? Or would the stage 2 be better? (stage1 rated at 480tq, stage2 rated at 560tq) I'm thinking the stock clutch isn't gonna cut it when i get the h/c put on. Should I replace th flywheel too? Any help would be great, thanks.

What is your current set up? And I personally say avoid Spec, and many will agree.

Get a Powergrip. Good up to 550hp for only $415.

just make sure you are sure you really want to do that before you do it. I would suggest trying to drive someone's that has it on there already before you do it. A friend of mine put one on there, and it was so touchy that he got tired of it and went with LuK.

My friend has one in his 94 Z28. Personally, I really like it. He also installed a new spec flywheel at the same time. The car bites extremely hard compared to stock. It chirps 1-4 with a good driver and he is just full bolt ons. The only thing he doesn't care for is the small amount of chatter it makes when taking off. Other than that, it is a great clutch. It was a smooth install and he really likes it.

for the most part, clutches are personal prefrence. I really think you have to research how they react, and know your driving habits. Try out a few other people's if you can.

I have found that to be the deciding factor with Spec. If you reuse the stokc flywheel there could be problems. Every time I have installed a clutch and flywheel from spec its been perfect. Out of the 9 Specs I've put in over the last 3 years, 1 or them was a stage 1 installed on a factory flywheel, it failed after 8k. 1 of them was a stage 3 on a factory wheel its still going with 6k on it. The rest were Clutch and Flywheel replacements, none of those have failed yet, mine being one of them , a stage 3 with aluminum flywheel that has abotu 12k on it with constant abuse and a bunch of 550rwtq nitrous launches on it.

i build high performance cars for a living, and ill tell you right now spec clutches are garbage, i will never, ever install one in another car, they are cheap junk, had one in a car for less then 2000 miles and the center broke out, compare it to the stock ford clutch that came out and you can see its much weaker
