Default Can I damage my trans if...

can you damage your 6spd t-56 2002 SS if you park on a hill and leave it in
4th(direct drive) and roll it back to hold the vehicle?

i was doing something to the dash yesterday and moved the shifter back to get more room and then the parking brake was in the way so i took it off.
i was driving in NJ stop and go traffic for a hr before that. so i'm not sure if heat was a factor or not.

then i was done. pulled up the parking brake and went back inside. a hr later i wanted to go for a drive and it would not come out on 4th. i push on it really hard then i was able to start it off in 4th, drive it for a mile or to until it popped out and heard frinding.

so is my trans junk from that or something earlier that i'mnot thinking of?
it also doespop out of 3rd.

thanx.

Chances are the issues were there before you did that. Sounds like it needs the typical 3-4 shift fork upgrade and new syncros along with some billet keys in the 3-4 assembly.

thesource hit the nail on teh head for you.

Pricing all depends on who does it, what they do, and what parts they change.
