How to diagnose a bad clutch master?
I noticed that you guys have a lot of clutch experience over here and I was wanting some feedback and any opinions offered.
I have an 06 GTO and I have had 6 clutch systems, all have had problems releasing except for my first mcleod street twin. It released at the top and burned up in 500 miles. It was rebuilt and I could never get it to release and had to fight all the gears until it overheated and split the discs into pieces. I could not release the clutch and forced the clutch pedal a few times.
I can't rule out that master, but it seems to hold pressure pretty well but the thought of the plastic push rod, doesn't help the nerves. There is about 3/8" of softer pedal up top and it wasn't there with the first mcleod that released up top.
The current clutch is a Zoom ds twin disc. I am on the second, both the current one and the first one never released. I am wondering if the synchros are toast.
Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.
