Transmission fluid
I was wondering about the GM syncro mesh oil for manual transmissions .I just had new transmision put in at the dealer. Should I use this stuff or is it just a waist of time. The guys at the GM dealer can't tell me a thing. Any information will help. Want trans to last more than 6 months. Thanks.

Ha..I went into the dealership yesterday asking for tranny fluid. The parts guy asked me if I needed the synco mesh fluid and I wasn't sure. I gave him all the details on the car, but he still couldn't find out. He said to bring in the owners manual and vin number and he would be able to set me straight. I haven't gone back yet. But the owners manual says Dexron III.

Ive heard of people having luck with synchromesh. If you have a 2000 car or earlier, using the paper lined synchros I would stick to NON-SYNTHETIC DEXRON III. Use of synthetics has degraded the paper in some cases. If you have an 01 or 02 car, I would use whatever you feel like trying IMHO.
