Default T56 whirring noise in 5th and 6th

My t56 is making a whirring noise in 5th and 6th. It gets louder while under load. Also, it gets louder when I put a little pressure on the stick when in 5th and 6th. All other gears are fine. Just put in new fluid.

Any ides of what it could be?

I have no history with the transmision other than it is supposed to have about 80k miles on it. I just swapped it into a buick roadmaster wagon.
new clutch, pressure plate, hydraulics, and flywheel.

Thanks

If I had to guess, I would say it's your extension shaft end bearing. This is the bearing that sit in the tailshaft housing. The 5th and 6th free wheels when not in use so the end bearing is not under load/pressure. When in 5th or 6th, the helical cut gears presses on to the end bearing.

The tailshaft housing has to be removed. It's the small tapered bearing on the end of the extension shaft.

It's the bearing on the right.
