Is the mainshaft upgrade to 650 ft lbs even worth the effort?

Default Is the mainshaft upgrade to 650 ft lbs even worth the effort?

How many people have actually experienced either a mainshaft failure or rear yoke input shaft failure? It almost seems like a waste to do the T56 Magnum upgrade if this is all that gets upgraded from a "standard" T56....I would think the gears would go before the mainshaft? Those with high torque/high HP broken T56's please chime in!

The yokes from the larger mainshafts tend to have a thicker wall on them which makes them stronger. They also usually use a larger u joint as well.

I have not seen many broken shafts either, input or output.
I also don't know if it is worth it unless you are trying to dead hook an 800 rwhp race car. But who professionally drag races a manual tranny anymore?
