Default Best grease for a pilot bushing that goes the distance

What is the best grease to install on a pilot bushing that will last. I am now replacing a worn one that was bone dry, powdery and enlarged. I think I used a run standard axle grease last time. Must be something better.

Suggestions?

You need little to no grease on the pilot if operating properly. If you're continually wearing them out, you need to look at your clutch balance or transmission Input shaft runout as a cause.

I've used dry graphite before but usually I just put a dab of ultra high temp Mystic grease in there before installing the clutch. You don't want to over grease it and chance it being slung on to the clutch.

Honestly I've used wheel bearing grease. Seems to work.

i thought you weren't supposed to lubricate a pilot bushing because its already impregnated with oil, i thought i read that using grease or oil in addition to this would clog the pores in the bushing and not allow it to correctly excrete the oil

Okay I ended up using brake caliper synthetic that is supposed to resist heat. The last time I used what appears to be kind of marine lube. Prior to this an using the lube I used today, I never had a pilot bushing issue. I certainly can not see running a dry bushing.

Thanks for the replies guys.
