Default Time for a Tranny Rebuild...

My car is has about 80,000miles on it,6 speed, only mods full exhaust, SLP air lid, and Spec 3. 3rd gear started to pop out on me about 7k miles ago, if i didn't hold it in 3rd for a second or two it would pop out into neutral. My friend thinks he can also hear the bearings in the tranny at higher rpms, i don't think what he hears is that, let alone a problem at all but idk. I daily my car and i plan to possible put a cam in it in the future, but I'm just wondering how many miles did it take for most peoples trannys to need a rebuild on a stock or modded car.

I also plan to build the tranny up a bit while we are in there, but just wondering if there are certain high performance parts(wear parts) i shouldn't install considering i DD the car, its not only for racing or track use.

Thanks

Just did mine. 59k. Previously was a cam and bolt on car running 11.20s, replace the 1-2 and 3-4 synchros, all blockers, and second gear (engagement teeth were a little beat but not bad). Other than that, no problems found.

Nice, I feel like my tranny doesn't shift that easy any more so it's deffinitly about to get a rebuild I hope the gears are fine and I only have to replace wear parts.

the gear faces should be good, the only part that gets a lot of abuse from hard shifts is the small teeth that the sliders engage. mine was feeling notch and clicky between shifts. after finding most of the syncro slider teet rounded off, i can see why!
