Default cleaning the clutch disk

I've read threads where some folks have cleaned their clutch disk with the brake cleaner and then others say not to get it on the disk when cleaning the flywheel or press-plate.

I have a second hand clutch it and it's been handled a lot and the disk is dirty. Should I use the brake or carb cleaner on it or just a dry sand paper. I've used dry sand paper on drum brake linings when I've handled them in the past so I'm thinking this is the way to go.

Thanks.

Brake cleaner won't hurt a thing, and won't remove any material like sand paper will.

That won't hurt anything.

Just make sure if you have a new (or newly machined) flywheel that your PP is newly machined (NOT sanded.)
And vice versa.

And brakleen the PP & FW before install. And you're good.
