The stock hurst isn't a actual short throw though is it? I thought it had alot of space between the gears 1-3-5 or is that just me? Seems like shortening the stick wouldnt be that much better. I noticed a huge difference in the throw after putting in my b&m, i didn't notice a difference that much on the height though..

No, it isnt a short throw. I have driven a hurst/Lou's combo and its a stock shifter with a shorter shifter lever. Still not a short shifter like a B+M and such. Those aftermarkets reduce the throw length but not by shortening the stick height. They do so by design.

Is it worth upgrading to a hurst shifter from a stock shifter?

The stock shifter is spongey compared to an aftermarket. Hurst Billet Plus is what I ran on my HOSS and it was night and day to the stock "Hurst Equipped" crap that comes with these cars in some cases.

The pics I posted above are of an M29 LT1 T56 and it is a brand new OEM NOS Hurst base with a Hurst short throw handle and ball. It is in no way shape or form spongy. It functions very well.
