3rd gear grind
I own a 2000 T/A, the clutch and slave cylinder were replaced 2 years ago and function fine.
Last summer I had the trans out because I was having problems with 3rd and 4th. Turns out the plastic fork pads on the 3/4 fork melted and I bent the 3/4 fork. Went to bronze fork pads (for 1/2 and 3/4) and installed a steel 3/4 fork.
The car drove fine for a bit.
Now it grinds whenever I try to shift to 3rd (and ONLY 3rd) almost the same sound as if you've tried to stuff it into gear without the clutch. If I shift quickly (and forcefully) it will go into 3rd 100% of the time and make a slight grind during the shift. If I double clutch like I'm driving an old school big rig for 3rd I get no problems.
Any thoughts on what I broke this time?
