Default 3rd gear?

I have read and read about symptoms of the issue I am having but am still a little unclear...

My car only has 52k and was never beat on, yet 3rd pops out at real low rpms, around 1800, and high rpms around 6k, no grind or anything, the trans seems perfect everywhere else

I know there was a bulletin from gm for the shift fork, any info on how much to fix or if I can get this covered from the dealer even at 52k?

You can back the forward stop out on the shifter to check.

The hole in the fork may be worn or the fork pads could be cracked. Damage to the teeth that mesh the gear and the synchro slider may already be done. Synchro, gear, fork, done.

Agreed.
Its the aluminum fork, keys or syncro most likely.
