Default T5 problems

In my 86 firebird i've got a 305 5 speed and i recently lost 3rd and 4th gear. I dropped the clutch in 2nd and went to hit 3rd and it just let go. Now 3rd and 4th are dead gears its just like neutral and the shifter is very very easy to move back and forth between those gears. 1,2,5, and reverse are perfect. It seems to me as if a fork has broke or a roll pin has came out and let the linkage just pull out. They're no unusual noises or anything. Does anyone have any experience with something like this or know a sponsor that works on T5s. thanks

You shouldn't have too much trouble locating a local shop that can repair the T5, should you want to go that route. The T5 was used in dozens of applications, practically over a 20 year span and they break fairly easily, so there seems to be more experience out there on them.

The only place I know of would be Aamco and I've had them split the case on a T56 6 times before I realized they didn't know what they were doing so I took it to Tick and have had no problems at all. I'll probably have to try a different Aamco. Thanks

You probably broke the 3-4 shift fork.
