Lt1/ls1 t56 How do I know if the trans is a lt1-t56 or ls1 ?
is there a part number ?
what's difference between the ls1 and lt1 trans ?
I've been told that ls1 t56 wont fit my C4 lt1. why is that ?
I'm doing an auto to manual swap . I don't want to buy the zf6 , so that's why i'm asking.

The LT1 bell is shallower & the input shaft is shorter. The engine bolt patterns are similar but different. The easiest way to tell is the LT1 uses an external slave & shift fork combo. The LS1 is a concentric slave( no fork). They are not interchangeable but they can be converted either way.
