Possible to use a 153 tooth flywheel on LS?
I am doing a swap into a car with a small trans and bellhousing area. Is it possible to use the small 153 tooth flywheel? I know the old style bellhousing will bolt onto the new engine but what to use for a starter? The trans used will have the standard 'old GM' pattern.

Sure, but you provided little detail.
The only part of an old "Muncie" bell that's bigger is the starter pocket.

I have seen pictures of both bells side by side and the 153 tooth version is much smaller in diameter. I don't have anything at this time and am basically collecting information before the swap starts. I have a PM that says the big bell (621?) does not fit in the car I am dealing with.
Using the smaller bell would save a ton of rework that I don't want to do and I don't need the giant clutch for a stock 5.3 in a light car with little tires.

I don't know. I have not started the swap - I know the T56 doesn't fit without butchering the car otherwise I would just use one. Like I mentioned I have a PM that says the big bell does not fit so I would like to use the small one.

Bump - anyone know anything about this
I have found a place to make a nice light 153 tooth LS flywheel and of course the PP and disk is not a problem. The problem is the starter. I found a place in Australia that makes a starter for 'their' conversion 153 tooth flywheel used in a Land Rover LS engine swap but they have not returned my email and I don't feel like making an expensive long distance call in the middle of the night to see if this thing will work for me. If it does I should be able to buy it from Advance Adapters here in California.
