Convert it to a 30 or 31 spline mainshaft.

I see the viper shaft conversion is $600 for parts and to have it torn down and installed i'm into big money. i'd like to go with another stock shaft. wheres the cheapest place for t-56 parts?

Its the same process to replace the stock mainshaft versus the larger one except you have to bore the tail housing out for the larger bushing and seal.

I can get a stock shaft from GM with an employee discount for $120. I think i'm gonna go with the stock GM one from my dealer. the viper upgrade is $600 plus someone machining the tail housing. easily a $500 differnce. I cant afford that right now. I just need the car back on the road.

$120 is cheap. I don't think you find it cheaper than that anywhere brand new.

Yeah 120 is really cheap. Go for it.
FWIW, I charge $700 for all parts and machining and the yoke for the 31-spline conversion.
