Whats My Clutch Problem???
Okay I have a 3.8L 5 speed Firebird that I just replaced the clutch on a few months ago and now I can't get it in gear. This past week it got progressivly worse until I had to turn the car off just to get it into 1st. gear. The pedal has a little bit of pressure but not much (if I press the clutch in and take my foot off, it takes a while to come back to its relaxed position). So I parked it and I am driving another car until I can fix it this weekend. So basically what do you think it would be. I suspect the slave cylinder but I just wanted another opinion.

I checked the fluid level and it is low and kinda black but it should still engage the slave IMO. Obviously I will drain and put new in if I put a new slave in? Also anybody had anything bad to say about the duralast or perfection slave cylinders? Remember its just a V6.

Have you noticed a leak under the car or on the fire-wall? If not, then you may just need to flush and re-fill the system. This is a fairly easy, and cheap way to start addresing the issue that doesn't require pulling the car apart. Give it a shot and keep us posted. Thanks!

No I havent noticed any leaks but once I finished my rear differential install last week my dad said he smelt brake fluid. So maybe I do have a leak or a busted slave. I was gonna flush the system and refill, to be honest I don't know how to do that just cause I never had to but I was gonna try to this weekend. Then I can post and update.

I recommend using a Mighty-vac (vacuum assisted bleeder) and connecting to both the bleeder (located on the slave) and the reservoir mounted on the firewall. You can find lots of info on this if you search Mighty-Vac or look at the sticky list at the top of this forum. Take a look and let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!!
