Gradually lost my clutch today - now I just get minimal pedal and a clicking...
Was driving back from lunch today and noticed my pedal travel was slowly moving closer and closer to the floor. By the time I got back to work I could no longer get the car into gear. There are no visible fluid leaks, and the m/c reservoir is full up.
Took a look at it this evening before hitching a ride home and when i push the clutch in, I get a little bit of resistance until it's about 3/4 down, then an audible click and a slight decrease in pressure before going to the floor. Minimal resistance all of the way down.
The clicking sound is coming from the bellhousing. I'm guessing there is some issue with the slave cylinder but haven't really had enough experience with the donut-style slave to know what this failure mode could be. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?
The car is an 88 RX7 with ls1/t56, LS7 clutch kit
