Default Stiff and notchy shifting

I have recently replaced the clutch, mc, and slave. New fluid as well. I installed an mgw short shifter and did the anti venom/detent mod. When I first drive, the first to second and second to third shift is difficult, notchy, and fights me a bit. I have to focus on not missing the shift. However, after a few minutes of driving, it smooths out and seems a ok. I'm thinking it's just some weird binding issue in the shift linkages and lubricating them may help. Does anyone have any idea what I should look for?

What transmission oil did you use? Thick oils tend to shift hard until they warm up.
