Default Tachometer signal

I was wondering if anyone knew where or what the tachometer gets the information or signal from. I just did an A4 to M6 swap and my tach is not correct at all. It moves when I rev but when the car actualy hits redline, the tach is only at like 3500. Any ideas? I appreciate the help if anyone knows. My car is a 97' but with the LQ9 408. Wiring harness adapted by speartch plug and play. Tuned by pcmforless.

You need to have the PCM reprogrammed for the LT1 tach to read properly with an LSx engine. Right now your tach is reading about half of the engine's actual RPM.

tach output settings have nothing to do with the tune being for auto or manual trans.any local lsx tuner can change the tach settings to read properly..10 second fix.
