I would assume that purchasing one of these would not involve an exchange. They are not the same trans so why would there be an exchange?
If it is priced like the other Magnums it would be a good deal. The cost of purchasing a used T56 and getting it rebuilt to handle a similar power level would cost quite a bit more.

Because the current "Magnum's" are 6060 conversions built into a modified F-Body casing, or at certainly the tailhousing is an F-Body..
Hence they may wish an old core. Or they may not, maybe they use new parts ?
Obviously any new trans from Tremec will not have this requirement.
For the yoke, I had my T56 converted with the Viper MS.
This is the yoke that was supplied for me.

This is the billet MW yoke beside the old cast yoke, you can see the difference.

Bare in mind this is listed as a 30 spline, so may not be suitable for your transmission.
But I'm sure the dimensions and makeup of the 31 spline or whatever you use would be similar.
The billet piece is more compact, and pulls the main body some 3/4" or close further away from the trans, the actual bit that slips into the trans is also shorter, but still more than enough spline engagement.

I know on regular t56 fbodies, they recommend putting the yoke until it bottoms out and then pulling it out about 1/2" or so to determine driveshaft length. The longer output shaft on this unit means you can still do it this way but you'll have a decent amount more spline engagement once you back that yoke off some.

And just FYI (I'm not saying the trans in this thread will come this way) but this is what happened to me
T56 Magnum supplied slip yoke (31spline)
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p196..._magnum__.html
Stock Fbody T56 slip yoke (27 spline)
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p252...e_1350_se.html
Overall, the Magnum slip yoke it a 1/2" longer, the barrel is 7/8" longer. My driveshaft was already a tad long, so this is where the added length gave me problems.
This yoke would be best for the swap (31 spline):
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p773...31_spline.html
its only an 1/8" longer overall, the barrel is still .5 longer than stock but it should be alright.
Moral of the story? If you are planning getting this trans, get just swing the extra cash and get a driveshaft with it haha

I'm eagerly waiting also. My cost will definitely be offset by near zero down-time. I don't have the extra garage space to have my car sitting while my trans is shipped out for upgrading. Just order new trans and clutch, and swap it out. Then consider selling original T56 to further offset the cost.
Tick performance upgraded model for direct bolt in doesn't look too bad, but maybe Tremec can get it a bit lower

mine is ready to bolt in from D&D it's a t56 case with tr6060 guts, it came with a correct input, output shaft. Also came with the power tower shifter. I might need a new driveshaft but will figure it out when I put it in. you also get to chose the gearing.

And I guess this largely answers my other question.
Buy a TR6060 Magnum, and this is all that's needed to convert to T56 fitment
