Default Master cylinder removal.

What is the easiest way to remove the u bolt that holds the master cylinder in place. I have climbed on the motor and I have tapped the bolts with a hammer.

I've found the best way to do it is pull both sides evenly. Once one side gets pulled more than another it usually becomes a major PITA to get out.

if the star looking washers are on the shafts of the u bolt it takes a little persuading to get out. If your going to bang on the studs with a hammer leave a nut threaded on the end so you do not mess up the threads

Yeah, I had one star(locking) washer on one side of the u-bolt, inside the car. I had to remove it from the inside first, then the u-bolt can be gently pushed out...

I fiddled with it and wiggled it and lightly tapped it from the inside for a while when I replaced mine just following the write ups. Eventually I got really pissed and just hammered the living **** out of it and it came right out.
