I pulled apart my T56 TUET2066 from my GTO for a rebuild and when i pulled the front housing off the case the input shaft fell out with the 1-2 synchro sleeve now i dont know which way the sleeve goes back on, it seems to fit both ways, anyone tell me which way its goes, Iam sure the tapered edge goes towards front of transmisson.TIA

Look for a short engraved line / mark that goes across the slider and the hub; that will indicate which of 6 orientations were originally used.

Originally, the non-beveled side of your 3- 4 synchro faced forward. But, it can be oriented either way.
