M6: which driveshaft for 3.42 gear ratio?
I'm planning a transmission swap (A4 to M6).
Right now I have a steel driveshaft and a 2.73 rear end.
Sooner or later I'll have to change the rear end 'cause this ratio is way too long.
But what about the driveshaft? I was told that the steel one will vibrate a lot, this at least using a 3.73 rear end. Is it the same with the 3.42?
I think some of the 98 M6 were with the steel driveshaft... was it that bad?
Thanks - Stefano

My M6 with 3.42's has the steel driveshaft. It does not vibrate at high speeds. You can balance a steel driveshaft as well as an aluminum one. It's just that some steel driveshafts got out without being balanced back in the mid 90's.
