Over the past few months I have been having a problem with my tranny. It grinds when going into first gear. It is just as if I was trying to put it into gear without using the clutch. It first did it about a year ago and two or three more times until about a month and a half ago. Now it seems to do it when ever I try to push it into gear quickly. If I give it time and push it into gear gently then I am fine but if i push it quickly then it will grind. It also seems to to it much more if the car is hot or has sat at a stop light for a while. I was thinking it was the clutch but am now thinking that it may be the hydraulics because it is so much worse when it is hot. I am hoping some of you guys can help me figure out what exactly the problem is. The car is a 99 SS with just under 65,000 miles. I bought the car with 39,000 miles on it and have never changed the clutch but not sure if the previous owner did or not.
