Default Help with tranny rebuild

One question and 1 problem

The long puller was not needed to remove the 5th and 6th gear assembly, it just slid off. IS this a problem?

Do I need a torch to remove the 2 torx screws? T40 bit snapped off and they didn't budge.

Upon re-install, which loctite?

TIA

Yes, you need a torch to remove the torx bolts, do not use an impact to remove the torx bolts as they are easily broken. Also you need to put loctite on them when you reinstall them. The 5/6 gear is pressed on only about half of the trannys that I have disassembled. You need to inspect the splines where the 5/6 gear is splined on to the mainshaft. If the splines are tweaked or twisted over you need to replace the mainshaft, as it will cause problems later.

The spline looks fine, just not a press fit.

Thanks
