Default T56 (M10) SSR yoke info

Anybody know if the strengthened T56 (M10) in the SSR uses a special yoke? It seems from what I can find that all GM T56's use the same 27 spline yoke - true? I need to get a yoke for this transmission. Thanks!

I think they are all the same isn't the M10 just mean it has larger gear ratios?

Mike K. - I think you are right - kinda hard getting info on the SSR... What I've found is that the 1st gear is a lower ratio with a "strengthened" gear (less teeth/ each tooth bigger). This was to deal with the 5300lb. vehicle weight of the SSR. I'm putting it in a Cobra replica (2400lbs) so I guess as long as it fits, I'll use the standard yoke.

The SSR uses a larger yoke. i believe it has a 32 tooth spline. That also makes the rear bushing larger so simply swapping out the output shaft will not "convert" your Fcar T56.

calhoon - you are correct - I pulled the engine/trans and counted the splines - 32. The yoke is part# 26055083

That's the point isn't it? A Viper output shaft has the same effect... you need to machine the extension housing out to fit the larger shaft. The SSR's (and 2006 Z06's) 32-spline outputshaft is the new top dog of T56 strength.

While the Viper shaft uses a 30-tooth output shaft, it's actually based on a 31-spline unit with a tooth missing for oil. I'm tempted to forgo the Viper shaft upgrade on my rebuild and see if the SSR output shaft would be just as easy... but I gotta find more information on it (like how many teeth are on the VSS reluctor, and what the length of the mainshaft is).

Anyone have the length and part number of the SSR mainshaft and VSS gear?

No the 30 tooth is based on a Chrysler 30 tooth . The 31 tooth design is a Ford design and a different animal. The aftermatket T56 / O12 model comes with a 31 tooth mainshaft installed ( no conversion/ machining required) . Just boring out the casting on your F-car extension to push in a larger bushing may seem like a simple mod but have you looked at the casting? I think you'll find there is little aluminum left to support a larger bushing after you hog it out. I think your over simplification may generate a weaker box --or junk.
btw :The SSR Yoke is:26055081/ mainshaft is TUFP4284 / tone wheel is 40teeth and isTUEV4898.
