Default What is the newest 6 spd. I can use with an old style motor?

Say a 80's style small block. Do they all bolt up or did the bellhousing patern change at any time. Anything else to look out for? Will a standard old style flywheel work with the newer trans? - I am looking to swap a 6 Spd into a 70 Chevelle behind a 406 Small Block.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

I am fairly sure you can use a 6 speed from a 93-97 LT1 car but hopefully someone else will chime in and let you know for sure

If you have the old bell and release system, you would be better off going with a T56 made for older applications. The 1386-000-011 is an aftermarket model made for GM retro-fits.It accepts the old fork, clutch. T-O bearing and 4-bolt bell.

I think I can find a used trans cheaper than an aftermarket. Does anybody know if the LS1 bolt pattern on the bellhousing is the same as the older motors. I am talking about the bolt pattern on the motor where the bellhousing bolts to.

Thx.

The LS1 bellhousing and input shaft are both incompatible.
