Default '97 C5...no more 3rd gear :-(

Buddy of mine just called and apparently has no more 3rd gear. He was playing around on the wet roads last night...spun thru first and second, went to slam it in third (yeah i know, bad idea) and it never went in third...shifter moved but acted like it was still in neutral.

All the other gears still work fine. is this the class 3/4 shift fork problem? anybody have any good links of pulling a tranny apart and fixing it? I'd like to see how big of a job it is.

Thanks.
